Soaring care home fees eat up £600,000

The Daily Telegraph featured an unusual case in which a 94-year-old widow had racked up care home fees of £600,000 over 13 years.

Her nephew, who is managing her affairs using Power of Attorney, queried why the annual care home fees had risen by 129% as compared with inflation of just 40% over that period. He said the breakdown provided by the care home did not enable him to understand where the money was going.
