A survey by Aviva shows that nearly a quarter of those aged 55-64 are still working. The percentage of those working at this age has risen from 18% to 23% in just three years and is set to go on rising. Aviva puts a positive spin on this, claiming that retiring baby boomers are seeking to ‘stay active and keep young at heart’, but shortfalls in retirement income are undoubtedly a major factor.
