Stealth taxes cost you over £2,500 a year

Politicians don’t often talk about the six ‘stealth taxes’ that the Times reckons cost the average adult Briton £2,570 a year.

They include ‘green energy’ subsidies collected via utility bills (£200), fuel duty (£600), air passenger duty (£120) and – by far the largest – alcohol excise duty (£1,500).

Despite the Times’ efforts, we don’t expect any of these taxes to be cut any time soon.
