Retirement postponed

In his Autumn Statement Chancellor George Osborne announced later retirement ages would be implemented sooner than previously planned.

The retirement age for men, currently 65, will rise to 66 by 2020, 67 by 2028, 68 in the 2030s and to 70 by 2050. The timing of the changes is intended to ensure that those retiring in future receive the state pension for the same length of time as those retiring today.
