According to the Daily Telegraph, the only people to benefit from the new childcare system that will operate from Autumn 2015 are those who spend over £5,832 per year on childcare.
The new voucher system only rewards families where both parents are working, with vouchers worth 20p in the pound up to a maximum of £2,000 per child. You have to be employed to be eligible for the vouchers. However, many employers offer childcare vouchers under the current scheme, and the paper advises readers to buy as many as they can and hoard them – because they will still be valid under the new rules.
